Moving to Tuscany in 2008, Marta Sierota decided to work with the beautiful, abandoned vineyards that surrounded her new home. The estate is in the small village of Usigliano, nestled in the heart of the Pisan hills. Today it covers 17 hectares of which seven are vineyards. In addition, Marta has an olive grove covering a single hectare. The unique positioning of her estate means that vineyards benefit from the influence of the tramontana and the libeccio, winds from both mountain and sea.
This allows her to cultivate vines with a non-interventionist approach that is firmly rooted in biodynamics. Fruit is crushed gently by foot and fermentations are initiated with native yeasts only. Vinification takes place in concrete tanks and a few of her wines undergo élevage in old French barriques. Marta produces exclusively monovarietal wines, as she deems this the best way to communicate terroir through wine.

Tasting Note A clean and refreshing orange wine with notes of crunchy white pear, citrus zest, white flowers and wet stones. A good introduction to an orange wine that is fruit focused with very approachable texture.

Winemaking This is composed of a 50/50 mix of two vintages, 2019 and 2020. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in stainless steel, followed by maturation in same vessels. No filtration or clarification takes place and only a minimal dose of So2 is added (about 20mg/lt in total).
Tasting Note Red cherry notes meet liquorice, subtle sandalwood and meaty undertones.

Winemaking All the grapes are picked together, foot trodden and spontaneously fermented in a big concrete tank. After fermentation there was no pressing and instead, only the pure less extracted juice was taken. The French call it ‘Vin de Gôut’. As 2022 was a hot vintage Marta opted for this technique to avoid agressive tannin structure. No filtration or clarification takes place and only a minimal dose of So2 is added (about 20mg/lt in total).
Tasting Note Liqueur soaked cherries blend in with rose and and sweet spices. Textured yet juicy soft tannins.
